1Corinthians 15:26, “The last enemy to be destroyed is death.”

Death will be the last enemy cast into the lake of fire and therefore, will be the last enemy to be destroyed!

Ever wonder why that is? There is a very good reason for this.

And this is it, because the Lake of Fire, which is called The Second Death (Revelation 20:14), is also the reward of the wicked!

All of the wicked will be cast ALIVE into the Lake of Fire FIRST (BEFORE Death!), where they will PERMANENTLY DIE the second death and be utterly destroyed. There will be no further resurrection from this second death- it is FINAL!

THEN (AFTERWARDS) DEATH itself will be cast into this Lake of Fire and be forever destroyed! Then Death will be a thing of the past and will no longer have any power over any living thing being how it will no longer exist.

Remember, once Death has been destroyed in the lake of fire, Death will be no more- and therefore, NO ONE can die afterwards!

So the reason it is the last enemy that will be destroyed, is because if it were destroyed BEFORE the wicked are- then the wicked would live eternally in torture in this lake of fire, being that death… having PREVIOUSLY been completely destroyed PRIOR to them, and therefore no longer existed, wouldn’t have the power of death over any of them anymore! And therefore, they- the wicked, could no longer ever die, being that death no longer existed in order to accomplish that task!

Then it could really be said that they would be tortured forever and ever in hellfire without ever being able to die! And the doctrine of ETERNAL TORTURE would then be legit!

But the fact that death is the last enemy to be destroyed, gives credence to the verse, “The wages of sin IS DEATH” (Romans 6:23)!

The unrepentant sinners who are cast into the Lake of Fire, which IS the Second Death, WILL DIE this permanent and final second death and therefore, justly earning their wages of sin as scripture so profoundly warns. Then after they are destroyed in this Lake of Fire, Death is then destroyed last! After Death is destroyed, nothing- or no one, will ever be able to die anymore since Death will no longer exist!

Is it any wonder the Bible tells us what happens after the wicked and Death are completely destroyed?

Revelation 21:4, “And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there will be no more death, nor mourning, nor crying out, nor will there be any more pain; for the first things passed away.”

No more crying and no more pain! This COULD NOT be the case if people were being eternally tormented in some lake of fire!

The Bible clearly DOES NOT support Eternal Torture!
